MOTORCYCLES

I have owned many wreck's that I have tried to forget about, took no photographs of and denied ever possessing.

You can have a look at some of the better ones (below right) but my beloved Mk3 RG Gamma was the jewel amongst them all.
It made around 50 hp, which for a 250cc engine was not bad, weighed only 130 Kg and was dubbed the first legal street racer.

After this I gravitated to an RG400, which was truly awesome......alas the anarchy was short lived. At this point the beaurocrats in Europe and the U.K started to introduce unleaded petrol, and leaded fuel started to dry up. These bikes were 2 strokes and required a separate oil tank to be topped up with 2 stroke oil every 1000 miles or so. This was the beginning of the end for mass produced 2 stoke motorcycle engines, within 10 years very few engines were produced ( scooters apart ) and 4 stroke engines ruled supreme.

The next best thing was the Suzuki GSX-R 750 series. These have been produced for over 20 years and have always set the benchmark for the other major manufacturers. I briefly owned a 1987 (H) model and sold that for the 1990 (L) model. This was the final GSX-R that used the "SACS" oil cooled engine.
This was traded in for my GSX-R 750 K1. Riding this bike was a truly sublime experience verging on frightening. I never had mine dyno tested but they made around 120 h.p

After 3 years with the Jixer I took the decision to buy something a bit different. My choices in the past had always been based on speed and performance however I consider being alive and well to be a great bonus. With this in mind I bought a Suzuki GSX 1400
This was quite a change from all my previous bikes and I was a little skeptical about what I had done. I need not have worried, having a 1.4 litre engine shoehorned into a bike frame is a fantastic idea. The grunt from this engine was phenomenal and I had to learn a very different riding technique. I loved this bike so much I held onto it until early this year when I got the Z1000.
